| Further Information: With fifteen pairs of legs - each as long as the myriapod's body (2cm) - this centipede is certainly well-equipped for its predatory lifestyle. Chasing down its prey at incredible speed, it captures small arthropods such as cockroaches, injecting them with venom via forcipules (modified legs). Since they hunt pest insects, they are considered beneficial in household environments where they are usually found. In the wild they live underneath rocks during the day, emerging at night to feed. |
